Urban Traffic Calming and Health - Presentations at the 2012 CDPAC Conference
The Centre's Olivier Bellefleur gave two presentations during the Chronic Disease Prevention Alliance of Canada's (CDPAC) Conference that was held from February 8 to 10, 2012, in Ottawa. |

Workshops at TOPHC 2012.
|
|
The Centre is involved in 3 workshops at The Ontario Public Health Conference (TOPHC), to be held in Toronto from April 2-4 2012.
Florence Morestin will introduce the NCCHPP's method for synthesizing knowledge about public policies.
François-Pierre Gauvin will be part of a workshop that will examine methods of public engagement to meaningfully inform complex health issues and policies.
He will also be part of a workshop with NCCMT on how their approach to evidence-informed public health (EIPH) can be combined with the NCCHPP's approach to deliberative processes to better understand complex situations in public health.

Workshop - Motorized Traffic and Health: Interventions to Mitigate its Impacts - CPHA 2012
.
We invite you to join us with speakers Dan Burden and Catherine Berthod at this free one-day preconference workshop at the Canadian Public Health Association (CPHA) annual conference, June 11, 2012, in Edmonton.
The workshop will focus on three interventions aiming at creating healthier built environments:
• Traffic calming on urban, residential streets;
• Road diets on suburban roads to allocate space for active transport infrastructure;
• Redesign of main commercial streets of small communities also being used as regional transit roads.

NCCPH Summer Institute 2012

The 2012 Summer Institute will take place in Kelowna B.C. on May 15-16.
The NCCHPP is preparing two workshops for this years's event: Val Morrison on problem framing in public policy and François Gagnon on assessing political acceptability through an analysis of the actors involved.

The Use of Health Knowledge by Not-for-profit Organizations: Taking a Look at Their Policy-influencing Practices

This short document examines the way in which five not-for-profit (NFP) organizations use health knowledge in their efforts to influence public policy related to population health. More specifically, it deals with the way in which NFPs use health knowledge in their practices and the issues that this raises for public health professionals conducting or planning to engage in knowledge exchange processes with these stakeholders.
