Publication - Tools and Approaches for Assessing and Supporting Public Health Action on the Social Determinants of Health and Health Equity
The NCCHPP and the NCC for Determinants of Health worked together to prepare a document which describes the various types of tools currently in use in Canada and elsewhere in addressing health inequalities at the local and regional public health levels. This document was published in November 2012. |
It is intended to help local and regional public health actors choose the types of health equity tools that might be most useful in their contexts. To read more, click here.
Workshop - Wicked Problems in the Built Environment
This workshop, led by Val Morrison, offered an outline of what wicked problems are and related this concept to issues in the built environment and to health inequalities. The two-hour workshop was held at the Place and Health: Shaping the Built Environment of NB and PEI conference in Fredericton, New Brunswick in October 2012. To read more, click here.

We also plan to publish a short paper introducing wicked problems in public health, how to identify them and some ways to address them. This paper is scheduled to arrive in late spring/early summer 2013.
